Musculoskeletal Pain & Muscle Spasm Relief – Can Chiropractic Help Me?

Musculoskeletal pain is very prevalent and would include several conditions I’m sure you’re familiar with or perhaps have experienced or are currently experiencing. Musculoskeletal pain would include any of the following:

Muscle spasms or muscle tightness seem to go hand and hand with pain. What is the connection?  Is there a connection? According to the research done by John Mennell, M.D. there is a connection between musculoskeletal pain and muscle spasm. When mechanical dysfunction occurs between the vertebrae of the spine there is some level of irritation.  The mechanical dysfunction of the joint leads to secondary muscle spasm above and below the joint.

Thus, muscle spasms are almost always a secondary response and are a protective reaction to a primary joint dysfunction.  What causes the primary joint dysfunction?  It can be an obvious trauma such as a whiplash injury from a rear end motor vehicle collision.  Or, a less obvious cause such as the repetitive static position related to being a seated worker. Whatever the cause, the secondary muscle spasm reaction of primary joint dysfunction has very important clinical and treatment implications.

As a chiropractic physician, I am an expert at identifying and releasing joints from their dysfunctional position and movement. I facilitate joints to their normo-function position through gentle and specific manual therapy adjustments.  It is an effective treatment providing pain relief because it addresses the cause of the pain and muscle spasm, primary joint dysfunction.
